Blogtober 2022 - Day 25 🍂

Today has been a lovely and very autumnal day, definitely worthy of its own Blogtober post. Ed's parents are here visiting and we decided to take a trip to the Dartington estate and go for a walk around the gardens there. Stay tuned for lots of photos of trees 😄

The 1,500 year old yew tree.

We came at just the right time to see the bright reds and yellows of autumn 🍁🍂🍁🍂

Collecting seeds.

The temperature was mild, not too chilly and the rain held off until the afternoon so we were able to sit and tuck into our picnic lunch beside this very yellow ginkgo tree. Jethro was the perfect baby today (isn't he always 😇), sleeping peacefully in the sling then waking up for some well timed lunch. He enjoyed looking around at the big wide world, gazing up at the trees and even feeling the drizzly rain on his face. I think he likes the outdoors, it makes us excited for when he's running around in little wellies and picking up leaves and sticks.

After lunch we explored some more, spotting a few sculptures along the way...

...including this one by Henry Moore:

It stands in front of these huge sweet chestnut trees, we had a look around but it seemed that the squirrels had got to the chestnuts before we had a chance to collect any!

Walking and talking.

By this point we had soggy toes from walking across the wet grass but it was worth it to stand underneath this glorious liquidambar:

Whilst I was putting this post together I had this song going round my head (a primary school assembly classic 😆):
