Blogtober 2022 - Day 14 🍁

The comedy in the catastrophe ~

I think I levelled up my motherhood skills today and earned my "dealing with disaster" badge 😅 It was just one of those times where it felt like everything that could go wrong did go wrong (although looking back now it really wasn't that bad!) There is something quite empowering about facing what seems like "the worst case scenario" and conquering it 💪 and thankfully I was in the mood to see the funny side!

We were already running a little bit late, then we got stuck in some awful standstill traffic whilst Jethro cried his head off in the backseat. I eventually got to town and parked the car, rushed to comfort the very worked up baby only to discover a major nappy disaster which involved a complete change of clothes and plenty of wet wipes, no wonder he was unhappy! It was properly raining by this point and I hadn't brought the waterproof cover for the push chair. Thankfully I had the sling in the car, although trying to wrap the long piece of fabric round myself whilst not draping it along the wet ground was quite a task. Soon the freshly dressed (and now happy) Jethro was loaded in and off we went, only half an hour late to meet my very patient friend!

It definitely felt autumnal today, the liquidambar trees in town have turned their amazing pinky red colour (there's always time for a quick photo even when you're running late!) 🍁 I had a lovely catch up with my friend whilst Jethro slept most of the time, he gave her big smiles when he woke up which was the cutest thing. His first coffee shop experience was a success!

Last night Ed and I made our classic curry, it's a variation of this recipe here but we just use whatever veg we've got in the fridge as well as (or sometimes instead of) the chicken. It turns out a little bit different each time but it's always so good 😋🍴

Not the best pic but you get the idea!
