Pink skies and white cats 🌕

I hope you enjoyed this collection of photos documenting the budding friendship between Jethro and Juniper over the past month. I blinked and the whole of January whizzed by, Jethro is now 6 months old and the dark winter days are beginning to get longer and brighter. Spring is around the corner, the bulbs are popping up in our garden and the birds are singing. I'm sure the birds must sing through winter too but they suddenly seem very loud and excitable.

I've finished two pairs of socks since I last wrote, firstly these Spiral Tube Socks which look very funny because they don't have a heel and look like something to keep your cat's tail warm 😆 they are surprisingly stretchy though and do fit on my feet as you can see:

Then I whipped up another pair of baby-sized socks for my little sister which are nice and quick to make, these ones happened to match some sunset photos I've taken recently:

These next two pics are spectacular sunrise moments:

We really have been treated to some pretty skies this past month. I've just been reading about how there's actually scientific reasons why sunsets and sunrises are more colourful in winter 🌅 something to do with the low position of the sun and the particular type of clouds. You learn something new every day!

A big golden moon rising.

Another knitting project was this sweet little dinosaur whose name is Woofy, Jethro seems to like him:

A few weeks ago Jethro experienced his first taste of wild Dartmoor weather! We went for a walk up to Buckland Beacon, it was windy but the sun was shining and we were dressed up warm. Suddenly the rain started and it turned to freezing cold hail which stung your skin and we could hardly walk straight because of the wind blowing from all directions! By this point Jethro was crying and I managed to use my completely numb red fingers to find his dummy in my pocket which settled him down to sleep instantly...a good way to deal with the situation I think! The weather calmed down again but we arrived back to the car  feeling very cold and very wet! Back at home a dry change of clothes and a hot pasty were just what we needed to round off that little adventure 😊

We've had a few walks around Stover Lake recently, which is always picturesque and full of wildlife. These three white ducks are always together:

Semi-frozen lake.

One morning the whole lake was frozen and the birds were walking about on the surface:

I've also been walking a lot just round our local area, I usually time it so that Jethro can have a sleep on the go which tends to work pretty well. We met some curious sheep:

Ed led us on a route through the forest in search of a carved wooden throne that he'd come across once before. We realised how unfit we were when we had to trudge uphill for quite a while and clamber through fallen trees 😆 we almost got lost and the daylight was fading but that all added to the adventure. Meanwhile Jethro somehow managed to get a nap in!

We found the throne!

A walk with Auntie Ellie, and another walk where I witnessed this very gorgeous white cat:

Perhaps the biggest adventure so far this year has been our launch into baby-led weaning! I now spend half my day cleaning the highchair but it's a lot of fun too, so far Jethro seems to love fruit and meat, oh and carrots are a favourite! I've been keeping a list of all the foods he's tried, some notable mentions are kiwi, sardines, marmite, and pizza crust. If you've never seen a baby suck on a pork chop I would definitely recommend it 😆🍖 I almost forgot to mention that Jethro has his first tooth coming through now! When I noticed it I literally started crying because he's growing up so fasttttt 😭

Speaking of food here's a Garfield-approved lasagne and a candlelit spaghetti bolognese moment:

Ta da!!! I made a glorious pie the other day:

...with gammon, chicken, and leeks 😍 (never miss an opportunity to make a pastry version of your cat and stick it on a pie):

I went on a charity shop crawl picking out books for Jethro, we needed some new bedtime story material! We also got a few more on a recent trip to the tip (we left the dolls behind):

He's really got the hang of his bouncer now and sits up like a pro:

A single snowdrop in our garden, and a rare specimen spotted in amongst the wallflowers 😂 it's our neighbours' cat Finn, Jethro is going to grow up thinking everyone has a white cat!

A few of our crocuses and the first bunch of daffodils (bought not grown by us!), we took that photo on Jethro's half birthday 🌼

Hmm...which stripey top shall I wear today? Plus an appearance from my old cat shoes 🐱

Jethro wants to be on the go 90% of his waking hours so we cherish the snuggle opportunities when they come:

We had our first day that was dry and warm(ish) enough to get out in the garden and do a bit of tidying whilst Jethro played on the picnic blanket and it was so nice. Looking forward to more of this as we head into spring 🌞🌷
