Some favourite things in the month of March 👟

I've been in a real rut with blogger, the desire to produce content is there but I just haven't been able to deal with the actual producing of it. I'm too critical and can't get over when the layout isn't perfect and the images aren't the right size etc. I've also been busy with lots of other things and haven't really been prioritising blogging.

Anyway, I thought I'd share some of the things that I have been enjoying and feeling inspired by recently.

Films:

• Benny and Joon

This film has been on my radar for many years (since my Johnny Depp fangirl days), but I never got round to watching it until last week. I was having a chilled night in by myself (and my duvet and a bowl of porridge), and this film was the perfect accompaniment. Just a sweet, feel-good, kinda rom-com-esque film with a twist, I guess. I liked it a lot. P.S it's on Netflix!

Snake visits the gardens

The weather was beautiful yesterday so I decided to take my snake out for a photoshoot in the gardens at uni. You know you're at art school when you don't even get odd looks for carrying a giant snake through campus.

Reminiscing ~~~ Spain on film 🌞

Last June I went to Spain with Ed, I brought my film camera with me and took some nice pictures. I like to look at them and feel happy and nostalgic.

We arrived at Malaga airport at night, it was warm and confusing. My uncle picked us up and we drove home in the dark seeing only mysterious glimpses of our surroundings. The next morning I was shocked when I sat up in bed and saw the view from my window.

A document of some days

From Monday 28th January to Friday 1st February I felt compelled to record my life in a blog post. But it felt weird just posting some plain writing so I printed it out on tracing paper (my fave thing) and scanned it back in. Now it feels more like a project.

Some thoughts with images of animals and angels

My sister got me these nice cut outs for Christmas. They're very cute and nostalgic. Almost as soon as I saw them I knew that they would be perfect for some funky scanner collage wiggly image artworks.  I love the surreal, floatiness of scanner pics, and I love how they capture the details of skin and hair. They are fun because you can never quite tell how they will turn out, I think these will look really cool printed out on transparent paper.

Unlikely Style Icon: Christina Cook Lee 🌈

I would like to kick off my blogging come back with the first part in a series I'm going to call Unlikely Style Icons, because let's face it, we don't all get our fashion inspiration from Vogue and Instagram influencers. For me at least, it's found in places a little more...spontaneous and unexpected. Like, for example, a playlist of 72 catchy as heck children's Sunday school songs featuring an abundantly enthusiastic lady wearing every single colour of the rainbow with a beaming smile and this fantastic blonde bob hairstyle. Hi, Christina, if you're reading this, you are my new muse.

New beginnings

A mildly edited note written on my phone at 1am on 31st December 2018:

When I was 15 years old I started a blog. I was on study leave for my GCSEs and wanted a space to share my creativity on the internet. I read a lot of blogs at that age and eventually they inspired me to just go for it after much consideration. 6 years later and I still have excess creative energy that for some reason I feel compelled to share with (mostly) strangers online. I still like writing about my feelings, I still take too many photos, and I still want to be a blogger. I’m proud of my first blog, I kept it up for many years with only the shared family computer and, to be fair, I did produce some good content and I made friends with people across the world in the comments section.
