On a Saturday morning at the beginning of March, Jethro and I were out for a little walk around the block when I spotted this rug rolled up on someone's front lawn. Ed and I have been wanting a fancy rug for ages and this one was just free to take! I wasn't about to miss that opportunity and thankfully we weren't very far from home so I managed to lug it (as well as the baby) back with me πͺ

I'm very behind on blogging. Everyday I hope I might get the chance to open my laptop and get on with a post but I can't do it when Jethro is awake and then when he's asleep there's always a list of other things to prioritise and by the time I sit down in front of the screen he's awake again π
Not complaining though, definitely grateful for the cute baby that takes up all my time.
So here were are back when the first blossom was on the trees...a chaotic moment in the garden where we tried to get on with a few tasks by bringing Jethro out in his high chair and using an old shower curtain as a rain cover π the shower curtain was not very waterproof so we were all pretty soggy before long!
This year I have enjoyed spotting all the different types of daffodils growing around our area, so much variety and all so cheerful πΌ
Even a daffodil growing up in a tree somehow?!
I made some cookies and discovered that shortbread is too fragile to make into people π there's a reason why gingerbread men exist instead! They were yummy though:
Happy boy post-bath, and playing music with the Teletubbies:
We had a house group meal towards the end of March and some friends brought these lovely tulips which gave some colour to our dining table for a couple of weeks:
Great news! After taking a break since last summer, I finally got back into sourdough making! π✨
I have to say this is definitely my most successful attempt, sometimes it just takes 4 tries to really get the hang of something! I've realised now that I had always been chronically underfeeding my starter so this time I've followed a different recipe and it is so bubbly and happy that we are able to have an abundance of homemade bread π yay!
The whole family enjoys sourdough for breakfast:
Voila! π« |
As well as making a loaf once or twice a week I've been a bit obsessed with making sourdough crumpets! They are the simplest thing in the world and very yummy too...
Jethro's food adventures are still lots of fun, here he is tucking into a plum and checking out the menu at Wetherspoons:
Almost a whole month has gone by since the sad day that we said goodbye to my old Yaris π’π after being my faithful car for 8 years he had just become too old and rusty to fix and so off he went to the great scrap heap in the sky:
RIP Oswald πΌ |
Ed took this pic of me doing some repotting in the garden π± and at the beginning of April we finally got round to sowing some seeds too: courgettes, sweetcorn, peppers, tomatoes, salad, and alpine strawberries. I'll keep you updated on how those turn out!
We had a funny surprise when we found that the sunflower head we'd left out for the birds last autumn had sprung to life and there were loads of seedlings taking root on top of the wheelbarrow! Before long they were dying off though so I managed to pot up a few and hopefully we'll have some blooms in the summer π» we've not had the best luck with sunflowers in previous years (thanks to slugs) so we'll see if any of them make it!
A view of the lake from the last time we walked there, can you spot the coot sat on its nest?
A walk with mum and guitar practice with dad:
Some early April colour, including the glorious magnolias. I almost missed being able to photograph the ones near us as we had so much rain right at the time they were looking their best.
Jethro is a very speedy and efficient crawler now which has brought a new and exciting chaos to our lives! He loves to follow Juniper around and has had his hand in the cat food multiple times already. He is getting better at standing too, even for a few seconds without holding onto anything which is a bit crazy. It definitely won't be long before he is toddling around and I am not emotionally ready for that π He is so pleased with himself though which is adorable:

The kids:
A cute baby outfit worth documenting, and a rainbow on the ground:
Juni helping with the laundry, and curled up in her current favourite spot - my red fleece which I haven't worn for weeks because I can't bear to take away her cosy bed. I dread to think how much lint rolling I'm going to have to do when I eventually get it back...
A few of the stars of our garden over the past month or so π·π·π·
Now that Jethro is crawling there's a whole new world to explore in the garden! It was a lot easier when we could plonk him down on the picnic blanket and he'd stay there π
About 3 weeks ago I finished my 22nd pair of socks! These were a birthday present for my stepdad and can also double as some patriotic socks to celebrate the upcoming coronation haha π knitting socks for an adult man definitely takes longer than ones for a baby that's all I can say, but we got there in the end!
Sleepy June gave a bit of assistance:
I love forget-me-nots and I love these photos of Jethro holding some in his chubby little fingers:
My favourite crabapple tree outside church bloomed floriferously (is that a word?) again this year. I introduced it to Jethro and also accidentally matched my outfit to it:
A tiny plate picked up outside someone's house (the same house that was giving away the rug!), and my 3 knitted dinosaurs. It seems like aaages ago that I was making these but I haven't shared them yet over here...
Ahhh some more Juniper content to finish up on, there can never be too much π
Ok that's it for this update! A whistle-stop tour of the month of March / early April π Next time I'll show you Jethro's first Easter because we took the sweetest portraits of him sat outside amongst the tulips πππ·πΌπ£π«
Right on cue he's just woken up so off I go, see you next time! xoxo
